Sport Aurora
Sport Aurora began as the Aurora Community Sport Council in 2005 when a group of representatives of seven Local Sport Organizations (LSO’s) came together to discuss challenges and opportunities facing predominately youth sport in the Town of Aurora.
These organizations found common interests and reasons to develop a plan that would help all sport organizations in their missions of providing high-quality sport programs to the residents of Aurora.
As membership grew, so did support from the business community and so an Affiliate Membership category was added so that local businesses or organizations that had business or other relationships with sport were invited to join as ex-officio members.

Several unique ‘properties’ have been developed by Sport Aurora that are important inclusions to the sport culture in Aurora. The Breakfast of Champions, Sport Volunteer Recognition Luncheon, the All Kids Can Play Program and our numerous recognition events that celebrate the Coach and Athlete-of-the Year as well as Student Athletes-of-the-Year are proven Programs. It developed Activate Aurora, a plan to make Aurora Canada’s most active Community. It piloted a Sport Concierge Program to facilitate sport tourism and is active in helping sports build their own Diversity, Equity and Inclusion policies.
All this requires funding and Sport Aurora has been successful at bringing almost $1.5 in provincial grants to the community to continue its sport service work, collaborating with numerous local service organizations and sponsors.
Sport Aurora is a strong collaborative partner of the Aurora Sports Hall of Fame and has three elected representatives, appointed by Sport Aurora on the Board of Governors.
Sport Aurora believes, supports and promotes the Mission of the Aurora Sports Hall of Fame: To Honour, celebrate, preserve and share the outstanding contributions of those who have brought recognition to Aurora.
