The Aurora Sports Hall of Fame (ASHoF) represents a celebration of sports history and excellence, honouring the significant role of sports and sport culture in Aurora’s community fabric.
Established in 2013 with support from the Town of Aurora and the Aurora Sports Council (Sport Aurora), ASHoF arose from a recognition of Aurora’s remarkable sports achievements and a desire to provide proper recognition.
Evolving from a simple recognition ceremony to a two-day induction celebration attended by 250 to 300 people, ASHoF has garnered widespread community support and sponsorship.
Located at the Stronach Aurora Recreation Complex (1400 Wellington Street East), ASHoF serves as both a physical and virtual repository of Aurora’s sporting heritage, displaying artifacts and memorabilia from inductees. As a registered charity, ASHoF relies on fundraising efforts, support from the Town of Aurora, and dedicated volunteers to sustain its operations.
The organization’s volunteer-driven management encompasses a diverse range of expertise, from financial and legal services to marketing and education.
Operating year-round, ASHoF welcomes all sports and recreation organizations to join without membership fees, fostering inclusivity and community engagement. Committed to enhancing public services, sponsorships, and funding, ASHoF aims to celebrate sports of all kinds and honour individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
Visitors can explore the achievements of honoured members either online or at the physical location at 1400 Wellington Street East.
We are always looking for volunteers to join our team and family. Please connect with Javed S. Khan at [email protected].
