Induction Night 2015
Sold out for the 3rd year, the Induction Celebration Dinner of the Aurora Sports Hall of Fame was held for the first time at prestigious St. Andrew’s College on Wednesday November 4th.
Attendees were delighted to be entertained by Aurora resident and TSN Sports personality James Duthie who welcomed the 2015 slate of inductees into the Hall. This included the builder of Aurora’s Timberlane Athletic Club (Kenneth Sinclair) an Olympic beach volleyball player (Mark Heese), a builder of sports for the disabled (Alan Dean) and the host of Aurora’s first and only Sports television broadcast SportsBeat (Lowell McClenny).
Before the night began, Honoured Members were able to mingle with sports enthusiasts and local supporters in a VIP reception. A new addition this year was that of a live Auction which netted the organization just over $10,000.
The highlight of the night remains the inductee presentations and once again, the Hall poured on the pomp and ceremony to celebrate Aurora’s sports heroes. The popular segment of the evening was that of the Inductee presentations and audiovisual vignettes which showcase the lives and sport paths of the Hall’s newest class.
Induction Night 2014
Sold out for the 2nd year, the Induction Celebration Dinner of the Aurora Sports Hall of Fame was once again held at the Mansion Events Centre in Aurora, this time on Wednesday November 5th. This year, the guests were entertained by Aurora resident and TSN Sports personality James Duthie who welcomed the 2014 slate of inductees into the Hall This included an NHLer, a soccer superstar, the founder and Head Coach of Storm Volleyball, the founder of Aurora Oldtimers Hockey, the founder of the Aurora Youth Soccer Club and the ‘Voice of the Aurora Tigers’, who also founded the Aurora Minor Football Association. Emotional and informative audio visual vignettes showcased the lives of the Hall’s newest class, and brought the room to standing ovations at numerous times.
Induction Night 2013
The sold-out, Inaugural Induction Celebration Dinner of the Aurora Sports Hall of Fame held at The Mansion Events Centre in Aurora on November 6th, 2013 was described by local media as “a night to remember.” The 2013 celebration set the standard for future ceremonies. Over two-hundred people were fortunate enough to attend this first-ever presentation of our rich sport history of excellence, designed to celebrate and honour the seven Inductees, chosen to be the “Inaugural Class of 2013”. The semi-formal affair included all the ceremony expected when recognizing such an important and prestigious group of Inductees that included a variety of Olympic, Canadian Champions, a four-time Stanley Cup Champion, Canadian National Team Members, World Cup participants and dedicated leaders and builders from the sports Community. The attendees, that included the Town’s sport leaders, media and VIPs, enjoyed video and personal tributes of the Inductees accomplishments and were entertained by Inductee presentations that were nothing short of inspirational.
