Meet The Class of 2015!
The following inductees were nominated and chosen to become the newest class of the Aurora Sports Hall of Fame, class of 2015. Here is a brief summary of all the Inductees:
Mark Heese – Induction Category: Athlete
- The Aurora resident was born 1969 in Toronto.
- Three time Olympian participating in the Sydney and Athens Games. He won a Bronze medal at the inaugural Beach Volleyball event at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
- Mark won Canada`s first FIVB International World Tour Gold medal in Berlin in 1996.
Kenneth Sinclair – Induction Category: Builder/Contributor
- Kenneth was born in 1930 in Toronto.
- He built and founded the Timberlane Tennis and Country (now Timberline Athletic Club) in 1987.
- He was chairman of the Canadian Open for fourteen years.
Alan Dean – Induction Category: Builder/Contributor
- Alan was born in England in 1939 and came to Aurora in 1965 and became a Canadian Citizen in 1970.
- He joined the Aurora Soccer Club in 1965. In 1966 he coached in the Aurora Minor Soccer system which was the forerunner of the Aurora Youth Soccer Club.
- He was inducted into the Canadian Foundation for Physically Disabled Persons Hall of Fame in 2010.
Lowell McClenny – Induction Category: Aurora Sports Hall of Fame Media Award
- Long time Aurora resident for almost 75 years
- Aurora Cable’s “Play by Play” announcer from late 1970’s to 2000 and Founder and co-host of Aurora Cable Internet’s “Sportsbeat” for 26 years from 1982 until 2008.
- Recipient of both the Ontario Bicentennial Medal for Volunteerism and Aurora Citizen of the Year in 1984
