This postcard features the Toronto Zingari, also known as the Canadian XI, in uniform with their competitors, the Gentlemen of Liverpool. Fleury appears in the second row, directly in the centre. The image was taken during the team’s 1910 tour of the United Kingdom. The match against the Gentlemen of Liverpool was the first of the tour and took place on June 30th and July 1st at the Aigburth Cricket Ground. Out of the fifteen matches that were played during the tour the Canadian Team only lost three – the match against the Gentlemen of Liverpool was one of them.

This photograph of Fleury was taken in 1887 when he was a member of the Gentlemen of Canada cricket team. At age 22, Fleury was selected by George Lindsey of the Toronto Cricket Club to be one of twelve members of The Gentlemen of Canada, assembled to tour the UK during the summer of 1887. His teammates nicknamed him, “The Rustic,” a friendly reference to his rural roots. During the tour, the Canadians met and played against Dr. W.G. Grace who is considered among the few truly legendary players of his era.

This cap was won by Fleury in 1892, when he was a member of the Gentlemen of Canada cricket team. That year the team competed against the Gentlemen of Ireland in Rosedale, Toronto and the Gentlemen of Philadelphia at the Germantown Cricket Club in Manheim, Philadelphia.

This scrapbook that was made by Fleury after the Canadian XI cricket team, also known as the Toronto Zingari, traveled to the United Kingdom in 1910. Fleury was an avid photographer and took most of the photographs that appear this this scrapbook. In one of the photos, he can be seen posing with his teammates while holding a camera. The book contains photographs, archival documents, newspaper clippings, and hand written notes collected by Fleury during the trip.

This blazer was worn by Fleury in 1910, when he was the Captain of the Canadian XI cricket team during their tour of the United Kingdom. The tour officially began on June 30th and ended on August 11th. During the tour, the Canadian team competed against fifteen other cricket teams from the United Kingdom and won nine, lost three and tied three matches.
