Cardinal Carter Catholic High School

Vincent Iannello, a grade 12 student, and the captain of the school’s Senior Boys soccer team  will represent the region for the 2024 OFSAA Boys’ AAA Soccer Championship.  This team is the first team to bring home the York Region Tier 1 Senior Boys Soccer Championship banner. He and the rest of his teammates have June circled on their calendar where they will participate in the three-day provincial OFSAA event which will be held in Windsor, Ontario.

According to his coach Lisa Merlino, “Vincent is the first player on the pitch and the last player to leave the pitch. He’s an effective liaison between myself and the players. Vincent usually runs the warm up, the pregame huddles, and his teammates count on his leadership and really admire and look up to him.”

Vincent is a key contributor from the centre midfield position for the Celtics’ soccer team. He also enjoys playing volleyball and soccer outside of school hours.

In the classroom, the Aurora resident has attained honour roll status by virtue of his exceptional marks in the high 80s and low 90s. He is punctual and conscientious when it comes to his academic pursuits and he has become proficient in balancing his obligations in the classroom, athletics and with his part-time employment at a local grocery store.

A community-minded individual, Vincent can often be found working with, and running activities, for special needs students at Cardinal Carter as a member of the Best Buddies Program.

Congratulations, Vincent, and best of luck to the entire school soccer club in Windsor representing the York Region Athletic Association (YRAA)!
