Aurora Sports Hall of Fame (ASHoF) announces the launch of a comic book to celebrate sporting heroes

ASHoF aims to raise awareness about the sporting legends in the Aurora community with this initiative.

There are sporting moments that define an event, a decade, or even a generation, but only a handful of fans are privileged enough to witness it live, in person, or even be alive to experience these moments. What is even rare is to carry forward the tales of these legends that defined those moments and gave fans something to cheer for, be it a game, a series, a championship, a cup or even a decade-defining moment.

To commemorate the impact of these moments on the Aurora community and mark their contribution to the sports, Aurora Sports Hall of Fame (ASHOF) is commissioning a Comic book that celebrates history-defining moments. The comic book will ensure that such legends are remembered beyond time, and their contribution celebrated across generations.

On this historic initiative, Javed Khan, President & Chair of the Board of Governors for the Aurora Sports Hall of Fame, said, “We are proud every day of what our athletes have achieved in bringing recognition to this community. It is heartwarming to see such initiatives undertaken to educate the next generation on the contributions of these heroes.”

He further added, “The Aurora Sports Hall of Fame recognizes the contribution of these sports personalities in several ways, but a comic book is an exemplary initiative that will involve the young minds in the community and spread the tales of these legends to inspire them in achieving greatness in their endeavours.”

Kristen Dajia, Chair of the Education Committee, appreciated the recognition her comic book project has achieved in the Aurora community and said, “When you study the history of a place, you feel more connected to it. The comic book intends to tell the stories of our past sporting heroes so that when children read these tales, they feel proud to be Aurorans, proud to be Canadians.”

The project will go live on October 27,2021. It will be available to schools, hospitals, senior living centers, and libraries all over town so that all Aurorans can enjoy the rich sporting legacy.
