Aurora Sports Hall of Fame Announces 2014 Inductees
The Members of the Aurora Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2014 were announced at the Aurora Town Council Meeting, June 24th, 2014.

The Aurora Sports Hall of Fame Induction Committee and Board of Governors announced the2014 Inductees to Aurora Sports Hall of Fame after receiving numerous nominations from the Community for three categories of members; Athlete, Coach and Builder/Contributor .
In the Athlete Category, 2 Members were announced from two different sports:
Greg Hotham – Hockey
Ed McNally – Soccer
In the Coach Category, one Member was chosen:
Bruce Stafford – Volleyball
In the Builder Contributor Category, three members were chosen for their contributions in building or contributing to the development of sport in Aurora:
Alex Ansell
Peter Miller
Ben Steenhorst
“The Induction Committee built a selection criteria and put a process in place to ensure the selection was done in an unbiased and objective manner through the efforts of volunteer community members who served anonymously on the Selection Panel,” said Induction Committee Chair, Kate Collins. “Once the selection criteria were applied, the nominees were ranked and recommendations were then made to the Board of Governors who approved each candidate at the June 18th Special Board Meeting. We are proud to announce such a worthy slate of Members for our second Induction” she concluded.
Chair of the Aurora Sports Hall of Fame, Ron Weese was equally impressed with the selection. “The Induction Committee has once again done a stellar job applying best practices with respect to the Induction Criteria; executing it perfectly,” he said. “The Board was unanimous in approving these Inductees and we are proud to have them join the Aurora Sports Hall of Fame,” he concluded.
Chair of the Events Committee, Wendy Browne has another gala celebration Dinner being planned. “We have built upon the success of last year’s event” she said, “and on November 5th of this year we are eager to present, celebrate and honour our new Inductees” she concluded.
The Induction Dinner Ceremony will take place on the evening of Wednesday, November 5th at The Mansion Events Centre in Aurora; home of the Inaugural Celebration Dinner last year. Tickets to the event that was sold out last year will go on sale, on-line at www.aurorashof.ca on July 1st, 2014.
