After decades of giving back through teaching, coaching and community building, Jan decided it was time to get back in the pool and compete. In 1991, Jan joined Masters Swimming in and began competing at again at the national and international level.
In 1992, Jan competed on the world stage at the 4th FINA World Masters Swimming Championships in the 50-54 age group. She won this Bronze Medal for the 50m Breaststroke and also placed 4th in the 100m Breaststroke and 5th in the 200m Breaststroke.
