This gold medal was won by Jim Elder during the 1968 Olympics in Mexico. It was the first Olympian gold medal for the Equestrian sport to be won by a Canadian.

Description
Gold medal in frame with velvet backing for 1968 Olympics that took place in Mexico. Medal reads: "XIX Olympiada Mexico 1986". Front image: woman in toga (Victory?). Reverse image: Crowd of people with Athlete (?) raised onto their shoulders. Medal has ribbon attached to it. No glass on frame. Medal is free-moving on backing, only end of ribbon is fixed to frame.
